Trichodiadema burgeri
The plant likes a sunny habitat, can tolerate partial shade.
Always water after the substrate has dried out. Reduce watering in winter.
It can tolerate -3.9 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.
Compared to other Trichodiadema representatives, the burgeri in particular has unusually large flowers. They reach up to 4 cm in diameter.
Trichodiadema burgeri probably originates from the vicinity of the South African town of Dysseldorp. This Trichodiadema is very similar to other members of the genus, but slightly different.
On the surface of the bright green leaves we can find visible pulp (small bladders filled with water). The leaves of this plant are quite large and the narrow stems give them an elegant appearance. The shrub usually grows to a height of 30 cm and rarely breaks thanks to its strong stems.
The flowers are unusually large compared to other Trichodiadema. They reach a diameter of up to 4 cm and turn pink.
Trichodiadema burgeri hides a secret treasure underground: its thick, bizarrely shaped roots. These get fatter over time and take on an imposing appearance. For older plants, I therefore recommend that the roots be slightly replanted to give the succulent a more attractive appearance. Apart from this natural beautification, it can also be shaped by cutting. This very hardy succulent will not only delight its growers with its unusually large flowers and its easy cultivation.
