Tradescantia Nanouk
Place in a location with plenty of sunlight.
Always water after the substrate has dried out like a traditional houseplant. Water less in winter.
The plant is not hardy, room temperatures are fine.
Nanouk is particularly attractive with its deep purple colour. This colour is unprecedented and not only appears on the underside of the leaves, but can also be found on the upper side.
Tradescantia Nanouk is a popular houseplant, native to Mexico and Central America. It has a much more pronounced purple colouration compared to other members of the genus.
The oval and glossy leaves are typically striped in various shades of green, silver and purple. In contrast, the underside turns a deep purple, and these shades may eventually bleed over to the upper side of the leaf until the purple is all-absorbing. The thin stems are easy to branch and will droop over time. This makes it suitable for hanging pots.
The small and inconspicuous flowers are coloured white or pink. They bloom at the ends of the stems and only open for a short time.
Tradescantia Nanouk is a very undemanding houseplant suitable for beginners. Its richly coloured foliage enlivens modern homes and the plant is becoming increasingly popular with growers around the world. It is an ideal choice for lovers of the colour purple.
