Tradescantia Jose Puig
Succulent suits sunny habitat and partial shade.
Water regularly throughout the year, a few days after the substrate has dried out.
It likes room temperature. The plant is not cold hardy.
It will impress with its dark purple to black leaves. However, the detail of the leaf margin, which is bright green and creates a sharp contrast with the rest of the leaf, stands out in particular.
Tradescantia Jose Puig is a representative of the genus Tradescantia. It is suitable for growing indoors as a houseplant.
The main feature of the succulent is undoubtedly its leaves. They turn an unusually dark, purple-brown to black colour. The leaf margin is a rich, bright green colour. The tiny leaves are covered with slight hairs, but these are not so pronounced. Jose Puig, like other members of the genus, becomes creeping or drooping over time.
The contrast in colour is occasionally complemented by small white flowers. The three-crowned flowers last on the plant for a relatively short time, but the main attraction of the plant remains its dark foliage.
The plant can be lightly fertilized at your discretion. It does not like too much watering, but should be watered regularly throughout the year. However, always water after the substrate has dried out to avoid overwatering. Tradescantia Jose Puig can be classified as a succulent, but is mainly a houseplant. With its atypical colouring, it will brighten up your interior and add an unusual contrast of blackish and lush green colour among other plants.
