Did you know?

The plant is nicknamed Blue Chalk Sticks, referring to the shape and general form of the leaves.

Senecio mandraliscae, also known as Curio talinoides var. mandraliscae or Kleinia mandraliscae, is a charming succulent plant with the nickname Blue Chalk Sticks. This nickname perfectly describes the characteristic narrow blue-green leaves with a waxy white coating that grow upright, curve slightly and end in a point. The epithet mandraliscae in turn refers to Baron Enrico Pirajna of Mandralisca (1809-1864).

Senecio mandraliscae takes the form of a small succulent shrub. Its stems initially rise upwards, but later become semi-flexed and often root in knots, forming dense mats. It grows to a height of 45 cm. In spring, white flowers appear at the ends of the stems, arranged in clusters.

If you want to shorten the plant, make it branch or shape it, you can cut the stem. Keep in mind that Senecio mandraliscae is mildly toxic. Therefore, grow it with caution if you have small children, pets or livestock. The succulent is otherwise undemanding to grow and is a favorite of many of our customers because of its atypically upright growth habit.
