We ideally place the succulent in partial shade.

Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering. However, the plant can handle more frequent watering than other species.

It likes room temperatures, but cannot tolerate temperatures below 0 °C. In winter, the temperature should not drop below 10 °C. The plant is not hardy.

Did you know?

At first sight it resembles a similar ivy. However, it is a succulent plant from Africa.

Senecio macroglossus variegata, also known as Wax Ivy, is an ornamental succulent plant that resembles a similar ivy in appearance. This variegated form was developed from the classic deep green Senecio macroglossus plants, which can also be found in our e-shop.

The leaves of Senecio macroglossus variegata are glossy, smooth and slightly fleshy. Their combination of green, yellow and white varies depending on conditions and time, and the edges of the leaves can take on a purplish tinge in sunlight. It has purple stems that can reach several tens of centimetres in length.

Yellowish flowers are found on long stems. Although the similarly shaped form of Senecio macroglossus variegata does not usually flower much, it will attract you with its colourful leaves. I recommend growing this succulent in hanging containers or as a climbing plant if it has some support. Moderate fertilization can help it grow optimally.
