Ideal sunny habitat for the plant, but it can tolerate partial shade.

Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.

It can tolerate temperatures down to -3.9 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.

TIP for you:

The bizarre shape of its spear-like leaves has made it popular with many collectors.

Senecio kleiniiformis, also known as Senecio Spear Head, gets its nickname from the shape of its leaves, which resemble spear heads. It is also sometimes referred to as Kleinia kleiniiformis.

This succulent has blue-green and heavily leathery soft fleshy leaves with a bizarre shape, the ends of which resemble spearheads. The same colouring and leathering can also be found on the stems of the plant. The stubby stalk continues smoothly underground, where it forms bizarre tangles and shapes. This succulent forms a shrub that can reach a height of up to 30 centimetres. It also tends to droop. Its height can be adjusted by pruning.

In autumn, Senecio kleiniiformis produces yellow flowers. This distinctive yellow colour is very atypical for Senecio and is found in few other species besides Senecio kleiniiformis.

There are doubts about its true origin, as some botanists claim that it has not yet been found in the wild. These experts assume that this species can only be found in cultivation. I recommend this fascinating succulent for its hardiness and ease of cultivation even to novice growers.
