Place ideally in a sunny position.

Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. Reduce watering in winter.

It can tolerate -1.1 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.

TIP for you:

It grows beautifully as an overhanging plant. The fleshy stem gives it resilience, and the purple leaves add an unusual dimension to the scenery in the sun.

Senecio jacobsenii, also known as Kleinia petraea, is a succulent plant with fleshy stems and green leaves that turn purple to brown in autumn and winter. It can also be found under the names Notonia petraea or Senecio petraeus. Its appearance gives it the name Trailing Jade.

Its leaves are ovate in shape, up to 6.5 cm long and 3.2 cm wide. It has heavily branched growth, with long stems that creep along the ground or hang over the edges of the container. The stems grow up to 50 cm long.

It produces bright orange flowers on upright stems up to 40 cm tall. The flowers appear in winter.

The leaves are at their most beautiful when outdoors in full sun. Fertilise lightly, as you wish. It is perfect for placing on the edge of a shelf, where it grows beautifully over time, or for growing in a hanging pot. Although at first glance the young plant does not appear to be an overhanging plant, it will grow into it beautifully after some time.
