- Senecio herreianus variegata

Senecio herreianus variegata
Ideally placed in partial shade.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. Reduce watering in winter.
Can tolerate temperatures down to -3,9 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.
Whitish and creamy variegation is commonly found on the leaves. The irregular markings can also be beautifully illustrated by the subtle pink colouring that sometimes appears when placed in the sun.
Senecio herreianus variegata is also called String of Beads, String of Tears, String of Watermelons. It is a similar form that can be traced in some sources as Curio herreanus Variegatus.
The lush green leaves are ovate to round in shape and bear the markings of cream and white variegation. They may also show subtle pink tints. The trailing stems are narrow and over 30 cm long. They take root at the nodes, allowing the succulent to continue to grow.
Small, brush-like flowers bloom from spring to autumn. They grow on long stalks and turn white.
Care must be taken when growing to avoid sunburn. Therefore, part shade is ideal. This is a relatively rare collector's piece that will appeal not only to collectors but also to growers looking for a plant for small hanging containers. There, in fact, Senecio herreianus variegata fits perfectly and falls beautifully over the edges of the pot.
