I place the plant in full sun, ideally in partial shade in summer.

Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. Reduce watering in winter.

Senecio likes room temperatures, but at least 10 °C. The plant is not hardy.

Did you know?

The name of the form, Mont Blanc, comes from the plant's resemblance to the snow-capped peaks of the Alps.

This is a variant of Senecio haworthii with flat leaves. Senecio haworthii Mont Blanc can be recognised by its beautiful white leaves, which seem to be covered with snow-white cotton wool made up of fine white hairs. These are so dense that the body of the plant is practically invisible. The leaves are fleshy and up to 5 cm long. A slightly visible edge can be found along the leaf. The lowermost leaves regularly dry out from the inside, but the hairs remain in place even after drying. It is advisable to remove the dried leaves.

The plant occasionally branches, which can lead to nice, compact shrubs. Branching is not very frequent, and the plant grows slowly on upright stems that can reach up to 20 cm in length.

The flowers are rarely seen, but when they are found, the tiny florets are a beautiful yellow colour.

It is important not to fertilise the plant when growing as it can lose its characteristic white surface and become lanky and unhealthy green. This plant can stand out amongst green succulents, especially when planted in a common pot.
