Did you know?

The parent of this houseleek is Sempervivum Kiara. This one was bred in 2004.

Sempervivum Tesoro is a descendant of the legendary Sempervivum Kiara and was bred in 2004. The word tesoro comes from Spanish and means treasure. It is what this plant really is. It has an attractive, deep red colour and light green leaves at the edge of the rosette. It forms dense carpets relatively quickly and can survive less favourable conditions.

It thrives in sunny locations where it can tolerate high temperatures and drought. They prefer well-drained soil, preferably stony or sandy, but are not very demanding. They are an ideal choice for rockeries, dry walls or roofs. Thanks to their shallow roots, they can take hold in a small amount of substrate almost anywhere. Watering should be rather moderate, overwatering could cause root rot. Fertilizing is not necessary, houseleeks can get by with very little nutrients. In general, therefore, almost no care is needed and the houseleek will grow happily in almost any drier, bright location.
