TIP for you:

Gold Moss is a great plant to add to a rock garden as a ground cover. It grows abundantly and also has a beautiful colouring.

Sedum sarmentosum is also called Stringy Stonecrop or Gold Moss. The name sarmentosum translates to full of stems and refers to the stems that form long stringy roots.

The fleshy leaves turn yellow-green and are arranged in triplets. They are lance-shaped and measure up to 2.5 cm long and 0.6 cm wide. Over time, the plant forms a mat of creeping shoots and the individual stems can grow up to 25 cm long. At this size, the stems form nodes and root again, allowing the stems to continue to grow. It can also be grown as an overhanging plant.

During the summer, yellow star-shaped flowers bloom on branched inflorescences.

These plants are hardy, requiring only minimal attention and care. They are suitable for the rock garden or in portable or hanging containers and, if given enough light and permeable soil, can cope with living in very inhospitable conditions. Succulents should be repotted every once in a while to give them enough nutrients for their growth. Water only during prolonged droughts and usually do not water in winter. Over the winter, the plant's leaves may shrink and naturally lose their volume. They will regain this at the beginning of the growing season.
