Place ideally in a sunny position.

Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. Reduce watering in winter.

Supposedly can tolerate -17.8 °C. However, in my experience I do not recommend even a light frost, as the plant is not hardy.

TIP for you:

During summer, the caraway takes on a pink to red hue in the sun, which is its main attraction. This is most noticeable on younger specimens.

Sedum praealtum cristata, also known as Sedum dendroideum subsp. praealtum f. cristatum, is a form that, unlike the classical one, has a ridge-like growth habit. The classical form grows in the wild in Mexico and can grow several metres high. Although in our conditions even the classical form does not reach these dimensions, the cristata form is even shorter in stature.

The shiny surface of the leaves is glossy and turns a light green colour. In full sun, the edges of the leaves turn pink to red. The sun also causes the leaves to grow smaller and more crowded together. The old leaves dry naturally to form a stem. This is flat, thin and often covered with aerial roots. In mid-summer it takes on a pinkish tinge, which is especially noticeable on younger plants. The tall cyme forms very quickly, which is not typical of similar cristate forms.

Flowers tend not to occur in the cristate form.

In cultivation, recurrence may occur. This means that the plant gradually changes to the classic non-cristate form. It is a very drought-resistant stonecrop that can go for long periods without a single watering. It also tends to be quite undemanding and hardy in other conditions. The cristate stem gives each individual plant a unique shape and character, making each piece an original. It impresses with its attractive colouring and is a great choice for brightening up the green corner of your home.
