Ideally placed in a sunny location, but can be placed in partial shade.

Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.

It is said to tolerate temperatures as low as -17.8 °C. However, the plant is not hardy and I do not recommend exposing it to such temperatures.

TIP for you:

The succulent is suitable for growing in hanging containers or for creating bonsai by cutting.

Sedum palmeri, formerly known as Sedum compressum, is an attractive succulent plant with a unique appearance. The specific epithet "palmeri" honours the British self-taught botanist Edward Palmer.

The leaves tend to be soft, light green and droopy. They are narrowly lobed in shape, sometimes slightly pointed and grow up to 3 cm long. The apical rosettes are usually about 5 cm across. The stems are slender and form abundant lateral shoots. It is an attractive succulent shrub that grows upright at first, but the old shoots become prostrate. It grows to a height of 15-25 cm.

Sedum palmeri flowers are golden yellow, star-shaped and appear in late winter or early spring. They tend to be quite distinctive and add to the beauty of the plant.

Sedum is also great in hanging containers, where it will eventually form green overhangs and a dazzling flood of yellow flowers when in flower. It can also be shaped into a tree by cutting, which I highly recommend. Sedum palmeri is an attractive, hardy and undemanding succulent that delights with its bright flowers and growth that initially resembles small palm trees.
