A sunny habitat is ideal for the plant.

Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.

It can tolerate -1.1 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.

Did you know?

The name "morganianum" refers to California grower and succulent enthusiast Dr. Meredith Walter Morgan.

Sedum morganianum, nicknamed Donkey's Tail, is a succulent plant with an appearance similar to Sedum burrito. It has longer and more pointed leaves. The name morganianum is a tribute to Dr. Meredith Walter Morgan (1887-1957), a California grower and succulent lover.

Its grey-green leaves are lanceolate and up to 2 cm long, densely covering stems that grow up to a metre long. A thin waxy layer decorates the surface of the leaves, giving them a leathery appearance.

The flowers of Sedum morganianum appear in spring and are purplish-pink to reddish-purple. They are arranged in pendulous racemes at the ends of the longest stems.

This plant grows slowly and with a little care will bring you much pleasure. I do not recommend fertilizing the plant. Old stems with falling leaves should be rejuvenated by removing the dry leaves to make room for younger shoots. Sedum morganianum does best in hanging containers where its overhanging stems can hang freely and stand out beautifully.
