Place ideally in the sun.

Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.

It can tolerate -6.7 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.

TIP for you:

If the plant is placed in full sun, the leaves will turn a beautiful red colour at the tips. Together with the glossiness of the leaf surface, you get the most out of its appearance.

Sedum lucidum, with a name referring to the glossiness of the leaves (lucidus - highly glossy). It was only discovered in 1971 by the famous botanist Alfred Lau and is very similar to Sedum lucidum Obesum, with which it is quite possibly identical. It grows on rocky soils in the Sierra Madre del Sur in Mexico.

The glossy leaves turn a reddish hue at the ends when exposed to sunlight. They tend to be heavily fleshy with a rounded edge and the lower leaves often dry out and fall off. The plant has relatively sturdy and initially upright stems which later become slightly leaning as they age. The maximum height is about 30 cm.

It flowers in winter and produces small white flowers.

Sedum lucidum grows quite slowly, making it an ideal plant for those who do not like frequent repotting. Old plants can be rejuvenated by pruning to encourage growth and vigour. Fertilizing is not good for the plant, but rather hurts it. It can also be propagated from a single leaf. A stonecrop that will brighten up your collection with its brilliance will sparkle on a windowsill or anywhere else, especially in the sun where the tips of the leaves turn red.
