This attractive small succulent can tolerate a light frost. It also impresses with its miniature stature and the whitish blue-green colour of its leaves.
Sedum dasyphyllum Major, is also known as Blue Tears Sedum. It is a cultivar of Sedum dasyphyllum with slightly different and larger leaves.
The tiny powdery leaves are grouped in rosettes and these form panicles. The succulent grows low and its short stems tend to lodge. It grows to a height of 15 cm (including the inflorescence) and forms a dense carpet.
Clusters of star-shaped, white flowers appear in early summer. They grow in racemes and on short peduncles.
It is a miniature and decorative succulent. Its partial hardiness contributes to its relative hardiness. Because of its short stature and ability to survive harsh conditions, it is popular for creating succulent carpets. It is a kind of Major among miniatures.
