It can tolerate -3.9 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.

Did you know?

A fine waxy layer is found on the surface of the leaves. The white coating then colours the leaves a soft whitish shade.

Sedum allantoides, with a name referring to the sausage-like shape of its leaves, is found in the highlands of Mexico, specifically in the states of Oaxaca and Puebla, where it grows at altitudes of around 2,100 to 2,400 m above sea level.

This succulent plant can show off fleshy, light blue-green leaves with a white tinge caused by a thick waxy layer. The leaves, which are obovate to oblong-obovate, occasionally triangular-obovate, are up to 5 cm long and 2 cm wide. The older parts of the stems are gradually shaved off due to leaf fall. The stems grow up to 30 cm long and the whole plant takes the shape of a small shrub.

The flowers of the stonecrop are white, usually with irregular transverse red stripes.

Due to its succulent nature, this plant can withstand extremely long periods without water, giving the surroundings a white, elegant appearance. It delights with its whitish tint and the aesthetics of its elongated regular shapes.
