Sedeveria Harry Butterfield
A sunny site is ideal for this plant, but it can tolerate partial shade.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.
It can tolerate -3.9 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.
It is advisable to grow the plant as a solitary and overhanging plant. It is a majestic succulent that impresses not only with its full growth.
Sedeveria Harry Butterfield, also known as Super Donkey Tail, is a fascinating succulent hybrid created by Dick Wright by crossing Sedum morganianum and Echeveria derenbergii. Compared to its parent Sedum morganianum, this hybrid has a greater robustness, which earned it its nickname.
Its stems are densely covered with fleshy, mint green leaves with a fine powdery coating. In full sun, these leaves gradually take on beautiful shades of yellow, while the tips of the leaves can turn red. The stems initially grow upright, but as time passes they begin to droop, giving the plant its characteristic appearance. The stems can reach up to 40 cm in length.
As a rule, they end in clusters of tubular coral flowers, which in some clones are coloured yellowish or whitish.
This plant is suitable for growing as a solitary and later as an overhanging plant. Its massive, heavy stems with large leaves give it an imposing appearance. Sedeveria Harry Butterfield thrives in conditions in which many other plants thrive and can be successfully propagated from individual leaves. It is popular for its majestic growth and beautiful overhanging waterfalls.
