Place in a sunny position or in partial shade.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. Reduce watering in winter.
In the short term it can withstand temperatures down to -3.9 °C. However, the plant is not hardy.
It has unusual leaf colour and contrasting pink-purple stem. It adds the desired atypical look to succulent collections.
Portulacaria afra Mediopicta, also known as Midstripe Rainbow Bush, or Portulacaria afra Kaleidoscope, is a cultivar of Portulacaria afra with atypical similar foliage.
Portulacaria afra has small, glossy green leaves with broad white stripes in the middle. The green colour may fade to a faded shade, usually taking on a faint tint. The succulent leaves are broadly obovate. They are up to 2,5 cm long and about 1,5 cm wide. The bright reddish-pink stems get thicker and slowly brown over time. The plant grows slowly and reaches a height of up to 30 cm.
The porkbush is suitable for succulent bonsai and tolerates shaping cuts well. Its colourful appearance makes it an attractive addition to succulent collections, where it takes on a fresh look.
