Place in a sunny location.
Water every few days after the substrate has dried out. Reduce watering in winter. Water more frequently.
The plant is not frost hardy.
Purslanes is very ornamental in flower. The whitish flower is complemented by the yellow centres of the petals. The whole flower has a highly eye-catching appearance.
Portulaca oleracea White, is particularly distinguished by its attractive flowers. It can be found practically all over the world, in temperate, subtropical and tropical zones, Europe, Asia and Africa.
The green leaves are narrowly obovate in shape and tend to be relatively small. In sunlight, they acquire a subtle purple colouring on the leaf margin. The plant grows upright at first and later its stems become prostrate. They often turn red and grow up to 30 cm long.
The plant produces a disproportionately large flower. It has 5 white petals with yellow stripes in their centres, which merge into a deep yellow centre in the middle of the flower.
It can be lightly fertilised and can be placed in a hanging pot. There are many forms of this interesting plant, differing mainly in the shape of their flowers. These are the main attraction of the plant and become the centre of attention.
