Peperomia wolfgang-krahnii
The plant is ideally suited to partial shade, but can tolerate sunny sites.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.
It can tolerate -1,1 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.
This is a representative of the so-called “Window Pepper Plants”. The leaves of these plants have transparent areas on them through which you can see inside the plant.
By Peperomia wolfgang-krahnii, similar to Peperomia dolabriformis var. glaucescens, we mean a plant known only from the type locality in Peru, 22 km below Aricapampa on the road to Marañon. It is characterised by the warty, silvery underside of the leaves and the translucency of the upper surface. The leaves are characteristically boat-shaped.
It is a representative of the windowed pepper plants in which the leaves have variously sized transparent surfaces that allow a view into the inside of the leaf. The plant grows very slowly and develops into a small succulent shrub up to 15 cm tall.
The inflorescence of this succulent grows in slender terminal panicles with faint flowers that appear in the summer months.
This plant is more demanding to grow and requires specific, mainly warm, conditions. I would therefore recommend it to more experienced growers who will appreciate this succulent plant not only as a beautiful addition and decoration, but also as a little personal challenge.
