Place ideally in partial shade.

Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.

It likes room temperature all year round. The plant is not hardy.

TIP for you:

It has a very unusual appearance due to the shape of its leaves.

Peperomia columella, also known as Columnar Peperomia, is a succulent plant that occurs at elevations between 1,430 and 1,575 m above sea level in dry areas, often in crevices on steep cliffs or in sandy soil.

This plant has thick and fleshy leaves which are shortened and U-shaped in cross-section and have 'fenestrations' through which sunlight penetrates the interior of the plant. The colour of the leaves responds to the amount of sunlight, ranging from deep green in shade or in winter to greenish-grey in excess sunlight. The stems are densely covered with thickly fleshy leaves. Peperomia columella produces small and rarely branching columnar bodies about 15 cm tall.

The tiny flowers appear in spring, are yellow and elongated, reaching about 3 cm.

This succulent is not demanding of sunlight and tolerates the dry air of heated interiors well. If there is a lack of water, the leaves may curl in on themselves. Overall, this succulent is an ideal plant for window growers who appreciate its unpretentiousness and ability to adapt to a variety of conditions.
