Pachyveria scheideckeri var. albocarinata
The plant likes a sunny habitat.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.
It can tolerate -1.1 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.
The succulent requires cooler temperatures and plenty of light to achieve a beautiful pink colour. The succulent will turn a soft pink if placed in a cool place.
Pachyveria scheideckeri var. albocarinata, also known by the synonyms Echeveria albo-carinata, Echeveria scheideckeri var. striata and Pachyveria albocarinata, is an unusual succulent plant resulting from a cross between Pachyphytum bracteosum and Echeveria secunda. The name variant albocarinata refers to the white colour of the leaves and their keeled shape, resembling a nose.
This plant is characterised by extreme variability in the shape of its leaves, which are irregular, often cylindrical and somewhat deformed. Their surface is heavily wrinkled and coloured blue-green, and white (variegated) stripes may also appear. Interestingly, in cooler conditions the leaves turn a beautiful shade of pink. The succulent grows slowly and forms small rosettes on a stem up to 20 cm tall.
Clusters of yellow to orange-red flowers can be found on the stems at flowering time.
I do not recommend fertilizing Pachyveria scheideckeri var. albocarinata. The succulent is slow growing and has a great variability and unusual leaf shapes. Their colouring also changes throughout the year and, especially at low temperatures, they surprise with a soft pink colour.
