Pachyphytum compactum White
The plant loves direct sun, but can tolerate partial shade.
Watering ideally rather limited, the succulent will last a long time without water.
In winter, at least 5 °C. The plant is not hardy.
The white plating on the leaves helps the plant to reflect sunlight and protect it from overheating. This is important because the succulent comes from areas with hot, dry climates.
Pachyphytum compactum White, known as Little Jewel, is more leathery than the classic green form and has a characteristic white colour. This particular variant stands out for its intense green colour of the leaves.
The leaves of Pachyphytum compactum White are strongly fleshy, tubular and pointed, reaching up to 5 cm in length. They grow densely crowded together to form a compact rosette. The drawings on the leaves, combined with the waxy coating, are unique and create decorative elements that are unparalleled in plants. Occasionally, this plant may form lateral rhizomes and older specimens tend to grow tall and then lodge.
Flowers appear in late spring and are barrel-shaped, red to orange with dark green or purple tips. These flowers are held above the leaves on stems that can reach up to 30 cm in length.
The succulent tolerates direct sunlight well, but requires careful watering. Prolonged waterlogging of the substrate can cause root rot. Propagation of this plant is possible by plucking a leaf which can be rooted to create a new plant. Its attractive visual appearance and atypical colour make it a great addition for any succulent lover. Its white colour is guaranteed to enhance the aesthetic appeal of your collection.
