It can tolerate temperatures down to -1.1 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.

TIP for you:

The succulent has beautiful purple leaves that are full of water. It can survive long periods of drought and is perfect for growers who are often away from home or forget to water their plants in time.

Pachyphytum Captain Jessop, a fascinating succulent plant that has won the hearts of growers with its beautiful colours, rounded shapes and rich history. This plant, named after Captain Jessop, a founding member of the Sheffield Branch of the National Cactus and Succulent Society in England. It is a hybrid of the Mexican plants Pachyphytum oviferum and Pachyphytum viride.

It impresses with its heavily fleshy leaves, which are full of water and measure up to 10 cm in length. Leaf colour ranges from dark green to purple to pink, depending on the amount of sunlight the plant receives. The leaves grow in arranged rosettes at the end of upright or trailing stems. The low succulent usually grows to a height of 15 cm.

It flowers in spring and produces beautiful flowers with red-orange petals surrounded by fleshy green-white calyxes. The flowers appear in dense clusters on slender, arching stems.

The succulent can be lightly fertilised and is very hardy. It can survive long periods without water, so it is also suitable for travellers who are not often at home. It can easily be propagated from a single leaf. With its hardiness, beautiful coloured leaves and abundant flowers, it is guaranteed to be popular with growers of all levels.
