Did you know?

The plant is characterised by very small rosettes. This cultivar has smaller rosettes than other common forms.

Orostachys iwarenge Chinese Hat, represents a cultivar of the plant that originated in Japan. It differs from the original form mainly in the colour of its leaves and is much smaller.

The greyish lavender leaves form conical rosettes of soft leaves. There are fine red dots on the leaves, which are not present in the original form. The rosettes tend to be very small and spread by short stems. This is a very small succulent which impresses with its fine detail.

It produces tiny yellow to creamy white flowers. The individual rosettes gradually die back after flowering, but this does not matter as they are soon replaced by new rosettes.

This is a cold-hardy succulent that would suit the rock garden, portable containers or other places we like. Stony and well-drained soil is ideal for growing. In the rock garden, water only during prolonged dry periods. The succulent will retract into balls during the winter and will re-bloom in the spring. It will survive the Czech winter outdoors without any problems, but it must not be watered during this period. Orostachys is a very pest and disease resistant plant. The succulent is therefore a plant that can withstand very adverse conditions with only minimal care.
