Orbea variegata
The plant likes sunny habitat and partial shade.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.
It can tolerate temperatures down to - 6.7 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.
The name of the genus Orbea comes from the Latin word orbis - circle, disc. This refers to the round shape of the flowers, which are typical of the whole genus.
Orbea variegata belongs to the genus Orbea, closely related to the genus Stapelia. The name of the genus Orbea comes from the Latin word "orbis", meaning "circle" or "disk".
The green stems turn reddish-brown in sunlight. It grows to a maximum height of five centimetres and forms graceful ground clumps.
This plant is also valued for its charming flowers, which are, however, very rare. If you want to increase the chances of Orbea variegata flowering, give it a cooler winter rest with temperatures around 10 °C. In summer, place it in a sunny spot and give it plenty of water.
Orbea variegata is an undemanding plant, ideal for beginners. It grows quickly and requires no special care. The succulent can even be lightly fertilised, for example with cactus and succulent fertiliser. It will enhance the environment where you plant it, not only with its shape but also with its generally decorative appearance.
