Ledebouria pauciflora
The plant loves partial shade, but doesn't mind direct sun.
It is not demanding on watering, even once a week is sufficient and has no problem if watering is not regular.
The temperature in which the plant is grown should not fall below 5 °C. The plant is not hardy.
This is probably a cultivar of the popular Ledebouria socialis, but it has lighter foliage than the latter.
It belongs to the family Hyacinthaceae, i.e. hyacinths. It is often popular among succulent growers for its unpretentiousness. It is probably a cultivar of Ledebouria socialis. It has lighter leaves in comparison.
During growth, it forms clusters of small bulbs (about 2 cm in diameter) in the shape of teardrops. The bulbs grow leaves and eventually stems with flowers up to 20 cm high. The leaves are mottled on the upper side and light green on the underside. The inflorescence may come out regularly, even several times in a single season. The delicate florets are inconspicuous and white in colour.
I recommend growing in tighter pots or bowls and placing these in a sheltered spot where they can remain all year round. You can tell when it's time to water by the slight flaccidity of the leaves. The plant is very hardy and can tolerate poorer light or temperature conditions and longer periods without watering. It can cope with more demanding conditions over the long term without affecting the appearance of the plant. Because of this unpretentiousness, it is popular with both experienced growers and beginners.
