Kalanchoe Tarantula
Place in a sunny position or a sheltered spot.
Water every few days after the substrate has dried out. Reduce watering in winter. Water more frequently than other species.
It can tolerate -1.1 °C in the short term. The plant is not hardy.
Tarantula gets its name from the shape of its leaves, often referred to as spider leaves.
Kalanchoe Tarantula, also known as Kalanchoe Katapifa, is a succulent plant with unique leaves.
The irregular, green and fleshy leaves with deeply serrated margins give the plant an exotic appearance. In sunlight, the edges of the leaves turn reddish in colour, enhancing their bizarre beauty. It branches freely to form a rounded crown that grows up to 30 cm tall and wide.
Bright pink to red flowers appear in dense clusters from spring to autumn. A period of cooler temperatures and a short day (about 8 hours of light) is needed to awaken flowering.
Kalanchoe Tarantula is easy to grow and with a little care will keep you happy for many years. You can fertilise it occasionally (the leaves will then be dark green and the plant will grow very vigorously) and transplant it into a larger pot if necessary. This succulent beauty is suitable for any indoor or outdoor windowsill. Thanks to its unpretentiousness and especially its bizarre leaf shape, it is a popular choice for our customers looking for something atypical.
