Kalanchoe Pink Butterfly
A sunny habitat is ideal for the plant.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.
It can tolerate -1.1 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.
It produces many tiny, bright pink 'butterflies' on its leaves. The beautiful pink colour is due to a lack of chlorophyll.
Kalanchoe Pink Butterfly, or Pink Mother of Thousands, is a fascinating succulent plant with leaves full of tiny pink butterflies. It is a variegated form of the hybrid Kalanchoe houghtonii, which is a cross between Kalanchoe daigremontiana and Kalanchoe delagoensis. It can also be found under the name Bryophyllum Pink Butterflies.
The leaves of Kalanchoe Pink Butterfly are green with brown shades in the sun and a tiger-like pattern similar to Kalanchoe houghtonii. A large number of tiny pink plants resembling butterflies form along the edges of the leaves. These plantlets are pink because they lack chlorophyll, which is partly why this plant has lost the ability to root from young plants.
The plant does not branch much and grows up to 60 cm tall. It rarely flowers.
Kalanchoe Pink Butterfly is an incredibly colourful succulent that is still quite rare and very attractive. Its beauty, vibrancy of colour and originality are guaranteed to win the heart of any succulent grower.
