Kalanchoe eriophylla
The plant likes sunny habitats.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering. Keep watering rather limited.
It can tolerate -1.1 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.
It is known by its scientific name Kalanchoe eriophylla Hils. & Bojer ex Tul. It was described by the Czech botanist Václav Bojer.
Kalanchoe eriophylla, nicknamed Snow White Panda Plant, is a succulent beauty native to central Madagascar, where it grows on rocks. The plant is known by its scientific name Kalanchoe eriophylla Hils. & Bojer ex Tul. It was described by the Czech botanist Václav Bojer, a native of Řesanice in the Pilsen region. He died on 4th June 1856 in Port Louis on the island of Mauritius.
This plant is characterised by a dense growth of hairs on its leaves and stems. These hairs protect the plant from the harsh sun and retain moisture. They give the leaves a silvery white colour, which turns brownish in summer. Kalanchoe eriophylla is a dwarf, highly branched succulent, growing to a maximum height of 30 cm. Its shoots are creeping rather than upright.
In spring, small flowers appear on the plant in pink, purple or blue-violet. However, flowering is relatively rare.
These are rather small plants and should always be repotted every few years. Otherwise, it is a relatively undemanding plant characterised mainly by its aesthetic hairs.
