Kalanchoe beharensis Brown Dwarf
The plant most likes sunny habitats.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.
It can tolerate temperatures down to -3.9 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.
Brown Kalanchoe bears fine, dense hairs on the surface of its leaves and stem. These not only give the plant a plush appearance, but also a pleasant feeling when you touch the plant.
Kalanchoe beharensis Brown Dwarf is also known as Dwarf Velvet Elephant Ear. It may be a succulent cultivar or hybrid, so it is possible that we may see this collared dwarf under other names.
At first glance, it is the foliage that catches the eye. They are irregularly shaped, curved and covered with short, thick hairs. These give the plant a velvety appearance and feel pleasant to the touch. The leaves are brown to golden-bronze in colour and the edges are slightly toothed all around. The plant rarely produces offsets and usually only a few leaves are produced. The small shrubs do not normally exceed 20 cm.
Brown Dwarf does not normally flower. Flowers may appear, but are rather rare.
The succulent can be lightly fertilized with a cactus and succulent fertilizer. The small and slow growing Kalanchoe beharensis Brown Dwarf is an unusual succulent plant. The brown colour and smaller number of leaves are complemented by fine hairs all over the body of the plant, making it a delight to look at as well as to touch. For lovers of succulent plushies, it is therefore as tailor-made as it is cultivated.
