Jovibarba hirta Green Gold
The plant likes full sun. Suitable for the rock garden or portable containers.
In a pot, water after the substrate has dried out. When placing in a rock garden, water at your own discretion.
The plant is fully frost hardy.
An excellent way to quickly cover your rock garden with bright green plants. This plant is a very fast grower and its aesthetic balls beautifully complement the design of the rock garden.
The frost-hardy Jovibarba hirta Green Gold was created by crossing unknown species in 2002 in Belgium. The name Green Gold refers to the bright green colouring that distinguishes it. During the summer it turns even more golden. The densely hairy leaves grow in the shape of balls. These are formed by the dense growth of concentric rosettes that retract into their centre. The leaves turn from green to golden and their tips turn slightly red in the sun. The plant branches profusely and quickly covers vacant spaces in its surroundings. This makes it perfect for modern rock gardens that we want to cover with lush greenery.
It thrives in sunny locations where it can tolerate high temperatures and drought. They prefer well-drained soil, preferably stony or sandy, but are not too demanding. They are an ideal choice for rockeries, dry walls or roofs. Thanks to their shallow roots, they can take hold in a small amount of substrate almost anywhere. Watering should be rather moderate, overwatering could cause root rot. Fertilizing is not necessary, as rock garden plants can get by with very little nutrients. In general, therefore, almost no care is needed and the succulent will grow happily in almost any drier, bright location.
