Did you know?

"Aureo variegata" has previously won the Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society.

Iris pallida Aureo variegata is a particularly popular plant. It is native to Dalmatia and is characterised by its elegantly striped creamy yellow variegata.

The long, narrow, sword-shaped leaves bear a yellow colouring that distinguishes it from other forms. There is also a white pattern. Overall, it can grow up to 70 cm tall. It grows from fleshy tubers that are hidden under the surface of the substrate, but may also protrude partially.

In late spring it produces beautiful lavender blue flowers. They grow quite large and have a very pleasant scent.

They can be lightly fertilised at your discretion. They are suitable for portable pots or for planting directly into a bed. Thanks to their hardiness, they will last in our garden without much care. During the winter, the leaves can dry out and it is a good idea to provide a sheltered habitat, e.g. by covering them with twigs. Its rare yellow colour enriches the overall appearance of the garden.
