Place in a sunny position.

Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, watering is greatly reduced.

The temperature should not fall below 0 °C. The plant is not hardy.

TIP for you:

It can be grown outdoors in a hanging container throughout the growing season. It can tolerate rain and cold and produces ornamental flowers.

Huernia pendurata was created by a cross in which Huernia hystrix and Huernia pendula were probably included . However, it is not entirely clear whether these plants are the parents.

The body of the plant resembles cylindrical stems. They tend to be ribbed, have no leaves and are typically covered with pointed fleshy projections. If the plant is exposed to sunlight, the green stems take on a purplish tinge. It normally grows to a height of about 15 cm.

It produces flowers similar to Huernia hystrix. They are bowl-shaped, deep maroon to red in colour and are drooping. The scent of the flower is very unusual and characteristic of the whole genus.

I do not recommend fertilizing, but it does not damage the plant. The plant can tolerate lower temperatures between 5 and 10 °C as long as it is watered about once a month. The succulent grows quite quickly and is perfect for hanging containers, where it impresses with its drooping stems.
