Hoya wayetii variegata
Wax palnt is best suited to a semi-shaded habitat.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.
Room temperature is ideal. The plant is not cold hardy.
This wax plant has more elongated leaves than other Hoya plants in our shop. It has a creamy pattern starting from the centre of the leaf.
Hoya wayetii variegata is a cultivar whose native form grows in the Philippines and Indonesia. Its variegated leaves have a whitish-cream colouration from the centre.
The slightly fleshy leaves grow into elongated shapes and the green blends with the whitish variegation in irregular patterns. The plants form shaggy clumps and give a full impression. The stems are reddish in colour and a slight pink tinge can sometimes be seen on the leaves.
The plant may produce pinkish, star-shaped flowers. The relatively rich colour of the centre of the flowers is complemented by a pleasant scent. It is, however, relatively rare.
The wax plant likes occasional repotting and moderate fertilisation like other houseplants. It does not like the wind in the room where it is grown. It can be grown indoors and can be placed in hanging pots. The elongated leaves make it a rather unusual wax plant, which captivates with its shaggy clusters of similar patterns.
