Hoya kerrii
The wax plant prefers a semi-shaded habitat.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.
Room temperature is ideal. The plant is not cold hardy.
The leaves are heart-shaped. This makes it an ideal gift to celebrate Valentine's Day, a relationship anniversary or any other occasion when we want to please our partner.
Hoya kerrii is often referred to as the heart wax plant and is nicknamed the valentine plant or the lucky plant. Its leaves are shaped like a heart, which is a clear symbol of love, happiness and being in love. It grows wild in Thailand, Laos and Vietnam.
The deep green leaves form a heart shape. They have a glossy, eventually dull, waxy surface and acquire dark shades. The leaves are fleshy and strongly fleshy. The stems can become woody over time and the waxflower grows into a shrub that can eventually reach larger sizes.
Rarely, cream to pink flowers may appear. They are star-shaped.
The wax plant can be easily fertilised as a houseplant. It likes occasional repotting and watering. It can be lightly watered, which suits the plant. It is a very desirable houseplant because its heart-shaped leaves can express feelings for a loved one, like a bouquet of roses. Hoya kerrii, however, survives for many years and all the time this symbol can be in your sight.
