The cultivar name 'reinwardtii' is named after C. Reinwardt (1773-1854), who is considered the founder of the Bogor Botanical Garden in Indonesia.
Haworthia reinwardtii var. zebrina, also known as Zebra Wart, gets its name from the unusual appearance of the leaves, which resemble the fur of zebras. This succulent plant, sometimes referred to as Haworthiopsis reinwardtii, bears the varietal epithet 'reinwardtii' in honour of Caspar Georg Carl Reinwardt, founder of the Bogor Botanical Garden in Indonesia.
Its dark green fleshy leaves, decorated with white spots or stripes, are pointed upwards. It grows in a rosette shape, forming from below. It can reach a height of up to 20 cm.
The flowers of this houseplant are tubular, pinkish-white and appear during spring on stems up to 30 cm long.
In full sun, the succulent takes on yellow tints or may have reddish leaf tips. It is popular with both beginners and advanced growers for its hardiness, strength and ability to last a long time without watering.
