Haworthia limifolia variegata
Succulent prefers partial shade.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.
It can tolerate temperatures down to -1,1 °C in the short term. The plant is not hardy.
Epiteton limifolia can be loosely translated as file-like leaves. This name refers to the conspicuous ribs - protrusions - found on the leaves of the plant.
Haworthia limifolia variegata, scientifically known as Haworthiopsis limifolia Variegata, can also be traced under the name Fairy Washboard (a reference to the ribs on the leaves). The name limifolia also refers to these ribs. It is a coloured form which is characterised by a transition of colours. There is also a variant that has similar stripes on it. The original form of Haworthia limifolia is native to South Africa.
The dark green leaves are folded into small rosettes and bear cream colouring in the form of continuous gradients and transitions. The leaves are triangular in shape and very broad at the base. They grow to about 7,5 cm long and 2,5 cm wide. The leaves have clearly visible ribs, which are small projections. The rosettes grow up to 10 cm across and the succulent forms lateral offsets.
The white flowers are tubular and relatively inconspicuous. They bloom in clusters on slender stems that can measure up to 35 cm in late summer. However, it does not usually flower.
It is best suited to partial shade, where it needs minimal care. However, in sunlight it could develop unwanted orange colour or sunburn. It does not need fertilizing and is generally a very undemanding plant. Haworthia limifolia variegata is a prized piece that you will like on first sight.
