Graptosedum Francesco Baldi cristata
Place ideally in a sunny position.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. Reduce watering in winter.
It can tolerate -6.7 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.
The shape of its leaves and its soothing colouring make this a very popular succulent that will stand out among other succulents.
Graptosedum Francesco Baldi cristata, also known as ×Graptosedum Darley Sunshine Cristatum and scientifically called ×Graptosedum Francesco Baldi Cristatum. It was created by selection from Graptosedum Francesco Baldi (by crossing Graptopetalum paraguayense and Sedum pachyphyllum). It was named by Ray Stephenson after a founding member of the Sedum Society, Dr. Francesco Baldi (1917-2003).
This plant is characterized by its crystalline growth form, compactness and unique shape. Graptosedum leaves turn blue-grey in partial shade and pinkish-grey in full sun. During the winter, the leaves take on a brownish-purple tinge. They tend to be lanceolate and densely tufted, growing atop flattened stems. This plant has smaller leaves than the normal form of Graptosedum Francesco Baldi. The succulent has a flat and firm stem and grows to a height of about 30 cm. Each specimen of this plant has a unique and interesting shape that makes it truly extraordinary.
Unlike the normal form, this cristate form does not flower.
The care rules for Graptosedum Francesco Baldi cristata are similar to those for most succulents. We do not fertilise the plant, but rather enjoy its greyish appearance accentuated by the attractive shape of the leaves.
