Graptopetalum amethystinum Lavender
The plant likes a sunny habitat.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.
It can tolerate temperatures down to -6.7 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.
The leaves turn an attractive pink to lavender-purple colour. The powdery coating on the surface and the high fleshiness of the leaves accentuate their appearance.
Graptopetalum amethystinum Lavender, is also known as Lavender Pebbles. The native form is found on rocky cliffs at altitudes around 1 950 m above sea level.
The leaves, with a fine powdery coating, are usually colored pink to lavender, from which it gets its name. They form sparse leaf rosettes on a thick stem that can reach up to 15 cm in diameter. This succulent gem grows slowly and reaches a height of up to 30 cm. Over time, the plant may become semi-hanging or drooping.
The flowers of this succulent plant have whitish-yellow to pale yellow petals. Interesting patterns of contrasting red appear on the upper side of the petals. This combination of colours will make the plant stand out and become unnoticeable. It usually flowers in spring.
The lower leaves dry out naturally, so it is advisable to make a rejuvenating cut. The plant can also be propagated by planting individual leaves. The purple colour fascinates growers of this succulent from the first sight. The subtle shades become more pronounced and captivate with a play of purple colours.
