Echeveria setosa Rose Purpus is a variant of the classic Echeveria setosa, originally from Mexico. The epithet 'setosa' in the plant name refers to the hairy leaves that are characteristic of this species. This variety is visually similar to Echeveria Set-Oliver, and it is possible that the two plants are one and the same, as Echeveria Set-Oliver was created by crossing Echeveria setosa and Echeveria harmsii.

The leaves of Echeveria setosa Rose Purpus are lime green and tend to be edged in red at the tip and margins. They form tight rosettes of thick, fleshy and hairy leaves at the end of the branches. The lower leaves dry naturally, creating the characteristic stem of this plant. The overall appearance is attractive and succulent. It grows up to 30 cm tall.

The flowers of Echeveria setosa Rose Purpus are red with yellow tips and inside. These flowers appear on slender, up to 40 cm long inflorescences in late spring and throughout the summer.

As far as care is concerned, this plant is not very demanding and is resistant to many adverse conditions. The plant is mildly toxic. It will not harm domestic animals but is not suitable for consumption. It can reproduce from a single leaf and fertilization is not recommended. It grows relatively quickly and with its hairy appearance and ease of cultivation has become a favorite among many succulent growers.
