Echeveria rundelli
The plant likes a sunny habitat.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.
It can tolerate -3.9 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.
The bright red flowers grow in decent contrast to the blue-green leaves and white hairs. It does not require much space and forms beautiful clumps.
Echeveria rundelli, known as Echeveria setosa var. deminuta, is also sometimes called Echeveria rondelli or Firecracker Plant. It is native to the Sierra Mixteca mountains in Mexico, where it grows in rocky soil. Its epithet deminuta means reduced and refers to the smaller size of its rosettes than is usual with other plants of the same species.
This deminuta is characterized by its blue-green leaves with white bristles, which are usually found in a tuft at the tip of the leaf. However, they can also be found on the margins, leaf keel or dorsal surface of the plant. The rosettes of the plant grow up to 7 cm in diameter and form a dense carpet effect. The rapid branching allows the plant to spread easily and form attractive succulent colonies.
The bright red flowers with yellow tips contrast sharply with the blue-green leaves and white hairs. This effect makes it one of the most beautiful echeverias ever. The flowers appear on the stems in large numbers. Flowering usually takes place in the spring and summer months.
Echeveria rundelli is also suitable for growers with limited space. It does not require much space and differs from typical echeverias by its carpet-like growth. It impresses with its pretty flowers and white hairs that complement the blue-green foliage beautifully.
