Did you know?

Thick waxy layer covers the leaves of the succulent, which gives it a leathery appearance and mainly prevents water evaporation. The succulent can survive long periods of drought.

Echeveria Red Prince is a beautiful succulent hybrid with not very clear origin. It is sometimes called the red prince of succulents. The name refers to the specific colour of the leaves, which catches the eye at first sight.

Normally, the flattened leaves are a soft blue-green, which is complemented by a whitish waxy layer. This layer gives the plant a shaded appearance and protects it from excessive evaporation of water and too much sunlight. The lance-shaped leaves extend slightly to a small tip and the wavy leaf margins are bright pink. In sufficient light, the entire leaf turns pinkish-purple or even burgundy, which is how the plant got its name.

It does not normally flower.

It is not only the waxy layer that makes this plant great at fighting off too much sun. It can also survive long periods of drought or other inhospitable conditions. It can be lightly fertilized at will. Echeveria Red Prince is perfect for brightening up a succulent garden, as even with a little sunlight it turns its leaves red to purple and makes a sharp contrast with its surroundings.
