The plant likes a sunny habitat.

Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.

It can tolerate -3.9 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.

TIP for you:

The ideal location for the plant is in direct sunlight, which will colour the edges of its plush leaves a deep red. This spreads further down the leaf to create a beautiful spectacle.

Echeveria pulvinata Ruby, also known by the popular names Plush Plant and Ruby Slippers, is an attractive cultivar of Echeveria pulvinata native to Mexico. The epithet "pulvinata" refers to the pillowy leaves. It can also be found under the names Echeveria pulvinata Ruby Blush or Red Velvet.

At first glance, it catches the eye with its green bladed leaves, which are covered with silvery white hairs. The sun's rays can turn the edges of the leaves ruby red or reddish purple, giving the plant an exotic touch. Old leaves naturally dry and die back to form a bare stem. This solid stem can be used for shaping in older plants. The leaves grow on it in small rosettes. The compact and low growth of up to 15 cm makes the plant look like a miniature tree, making it an ideal choice for smaller spaces.

It produces yellow and orange flowers which are arranged in clusters on a flower stalk up to 30 cm long. I recommend removing the flower stalk after flowering. Flowering usually takes place in late winter to early spring.

The succulent is easily propagated by planting individual leaves and does not need any fertilizing. Echeveria pulvinata Ruby is a charming succulent plant that will win you over with its plush appearance or ruby coloured leaves.
