Echeveria pulvinata Frosty cristata
The plant likes a sunny habitat or partial shade.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering. Water the plant less rather than more.
In the short term it can cope with -3.9 °C. However, the plant is not hardy.
This is a cuddly succulent. This makes it one of the favourite crested succulents among collectors and enthusiasts of atypical species.
Echeveria pulvinata Frosty cristata, also known as Echeveria pulvinata var. frigida cristata, is a beautiful cristate form. The classic form of this succulent is native to Mexico, probably only from the type locality between San Pedro Yólox and Rio Grande in the Mexican state of Oaxaca.
It is distinguished by its hairy leaves, white as snow, which have a plush appearance. Plants grown in full sun form dense ridges. The fresh leaves are pure white, while the older ones gradually lose this characteristic colouring and develop a yellow-green tinge on their surface. Even the flat stem is covered with fine hairs. The total height of the plant is about 30 cm.
The cristate form of Echeveria pulvinata Frosty does not flower, or flowers only very rarely. The succulent grows slowly and is considered more of a collector's piece. Care should be taken when growing it to avoid prolonged waterlogging. It is suitable as a unique piece to enliven a collection, where it stands out especially for its plush leaves.
