Echeveria Hercules
Place ideally in a sunny position.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.
It can tolerate -1.1 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.
The fine waxy coating on the leaves gives the plant pastel shades and adds aesthetic colour to the succulent.
Echeveria Hercules is a charming cultivar of Echeveria pulidonis. It has smooth, grey-green leaves with pink to purple edges and tips.
The leaf backs turn pink to purple when the plant is exposed to prolonged drought or winter temperatures. The wax coating gives the plant a soft pastel appearance. The fleshy leaves are lanceolate with a pointed tip at the base, growing up to 5 cm long and 2 cm wide. The flesh forms ground rosettes that grow to a height of 5 cm and reach a diameter of 5-10 cm. Over time, the plant forms rhizomes to form dense clumps.
Beautiful yellow bell-shaped flowers appear on unbranched inflorescences that rise above the rosettes in late spring and summer.
Echeveria Hercules is easy to grow but requires careful watering. From spring to autumn, it is advisable to water the plant by 'soaking and drying'. This means watering it thoroughly and then allowing the substrate to dry completely before watering again. If we have containers under the pots, we need to make sure that there is no water standing in them. In the winter months, you only need to water the plant enough to prevent the leaves from shriveling. The succulent impresses especially with its beautiful flowers, but even on normal days it is a delight with its pastel colours.
