Echeveria fimbriata
The plant likes sunny habitats.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering. In general, water less.
It can tolerate -3.9 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.
The succulent is impressive with its sturdy, robust red stem. Its leaves are also this colour.
Echeveria fimbriata is a succulent plant with showy, broad and glossy burgundy-coloured leaves. The name fimbriata, derived from Latin, refers to the inconspicuously fringed edges of the young leaves.
The leaves of Echeveria fimbriata are deep burgundy with thin, lighter to almost transparent margins. The broad leaves tend to be glossy and taper to a thick stem. The stem is strong, red and robust. Growth of Echeveria fimbriata is solitary and rather slow. The rosettes of the plant grow open with relatively few leaves and grow to a diameter of 20 cm. The height then varies up to 15 cm.
The flowers are bell-shaped. They turn pink to red on the outside and orange on the inside. They appear from spring to autumn in racemes on stalks up to 30 cm long.
There is also a crested form of Echeveria fimbriata, which is characterised by its deformed growth with a ridge-like appearance. The plant is valued for its attractive red leaves and relatively easy cultivation.
