Echeveria colorata Tapalpa
The plant likes a sunny habitat.
Always water a few days after the substrate has dried out. In winter, limit watering.
It can tolerate -3.9 °C in the short term. However, the plant is not hardy.
In time, it is advisable to transplant the plant into a larger pot. In this case, it is ideal to use a cactus and succulent substrate, which can be found in almost any garden shop.
Echeveria colorata Tapalpa is a succulent plant from the Mexican state of Jalisco, specifically from the area around the town of Tapalpa. It is named after this place. It is one of the many fascinating forms of Echeveria colorata.
The large and fleshy leaves turn silver-green and their tips take on reddish hues. A whitish coating covers the upright leaves, giving a velvety feel. The plant forms a solitary rosette that can reach up to 20 cm in diameter. The succulent grows ground-hugging.
Pink bell-shaped flowers bloom on arching stems during spring.
It likes a bright habitat, but beware of the first direct sun in spring as it can cause leaf burn. Fertilizing is not necessary as too much nutrients can cause damage to the plant. The relatively hardy Echeveria colorata Tapalpa, with its pale leaves and red tips, will delight growers with the subtle contrast of its colours and the eye-pleasing shape of its leaves.
