The full name Crassula mesembryanthemoides Tenelli, also known as Crassula Surprise Party, is a fascinating cultivar of the Crassula genus. This plant features green leaves covered with tiny hairs that give it a beautiful silver shimmer. The leaves are 4 cm long and 1 cm wide. This small succulent shrub has upright, branched stems and can reach a height of up to 20 cm.
During the flowering season, the buds at the top of the thin stems start to turn colour. They first turn slightly pink and then a deep red. The flowers are bell-shaped and appear in clusters at the top of the stems, usually in autumn. After flowering it is recommended to cut back the tips of the stems, which causes the plant to form a compact shrub.
Crassula Tenelli changes its leaf colour in different light conditions. In full sun they are light green to yellow, while in shade they remain deep green. The cane prefers adequate watering and does not like waterlogging. It is also important to check that it is not infested with woolly adelgid, for which it is attractive. This plant can easily be propagated from a single leaf, making it easy to grow this beautiful Crassula.
